July 20th - Leslie, Dan and Kendra
The guests tonight were our friends Leslie and Dan, and of course, Kendra. We met Leslie four or five years ago, when she was the roommate of our friend Illana. Illana was in Mike's department at UGA as a Master's student, and she introduced us to a web of terrific people who all apparently graduated from Erskine college. That's part of the fun of having Leslie around - she tells great stories, and since we now know so many people that she knows, something interesting is bound to come up (Tad... tsk, tsk... the stories she told about you!) Hmmm. This thing won't let me space down - so consider this a new paragraph. The menu consisted of carrot soup with ginger and lemon; braised chicken in sun-dried tomato cream; red potatoes with olives, feta and mint; grilled bread with olive oil, and mixed greens salad with cucumber feta dressing. The wine selection was a Pinot Gris. Leslie additionally made a wonderful lemon mousse with graham cracker crust for dessert. I do apologize, but I forgot to take any pictures of the evening's festivities. I do have a picture of
the wine bottle, an Oregon Pinot Gris (see right) from the Erath winery, but I completely neglected the rest of my job. I will try to do better in the future! And what a future it is! Starting tomorrow we have six reservations in seven days, for a total of 15 guests. If you haven't made a reservation yet, please do so! Time is running out - it's either now, or wait until next year! And on that note - something to think about... we're considering moving Cafe Davis to May next year. Any thoughts?
