This night was family night - in attendance were my cousins Nicholas and Kris, Kris's wife Jessica, and our new housemate, Kendra (who attended with her husband on the 12th). Kris and Jessica live in Statham (more or less - their address is technically Winder), about 5-10 miles from our old house in Bogart. Nicholas lives here in Chamblee, about a mile away, but we never see him. He lives the bachelor lifestyle, playing poker all the time - something us old married folks have no idea how to do... right Nicholas?
The menu was tapas night: crab and goat cheese empanadas; paprika-glazed baby back ribs; cherry tomatoes stuffed with Spanish olive tapenade; and fried eggplant with salmorejo sauce. Plus we had some fresh corn that we threw on the grill. The beverage of the evening was Sangria (courtesy of Jenn - thanks for bringing something extra to drink the other night! It saved me some trouble!) which I decanted and served with orange slices. Jessica made a delicious homemade blueberry cobbler with hand-picked berries. It was terrific, and we are looking forward to it's reappearance at future family gatherings.
Kendra got her first taste of Cafe Davis from the inside, and helpfully offered her assistance. If only I had a larger kitchen! Luckily she gets along well with my relatives, and we had a nice respectable dinner. Well, except for Kris mooning Nicholas as he was walking on to the porch... ah, brotherly love. Thanks also to Kris and Jessica for the massive cucumber. It came in handy the next day in some salad dressing I made!
