Cafe Davis 2009

Invitations are starting to go out! Reservations are starting to come in! The Cafe opens in just a few weeks! I am so excited!!!

This year's Cafe is a bit shorter than past years' - only 24 days. That means that you shouldn't dilly dally in making your reservations becasue the end will be here before you know it!

I want to give a special thanks to Derrick (AGAIN) for designing and maintaining the website. I think he did a wonderful job, in particular, designing this year's image on the front page. Of course I AM partial to my house, but he made it look amazing. If I ever publish a cookbook (unlikely, but if I ever do) that will totally be the picture on the front cover.

And in case you haven't figured it out yet, this year's theme is Southern cooking. I had *the best* time coming up with the menu. Everything looked so delicious to me - I had a difficult time making choices. That's why some of my favorites are on the menu more than once - like fried green tomatoes, for instance. I did find different recipes, so they'll be a little different each time. Maybe when everything is said and done I'll have a clear winner to proclaim and share here on the blog.

Another note about Southern cooking - I am biscuit baking challenged. I really feel like a Southern failure sometimes because I'm just not good at it. You may have noticed that biscuits are on the menu a few times. I'm going to give them my best shot, but if stuff doesn't work out I may have to resort to plan B or C. Plan B is frozen biscuits. Plan C is Red Lobster on speed dial and a quick trip across town for cheesy biscuits. Alright stop it... I can tell there's a bunch of you out there rooting for Plan C already! Give me a chance - maybe I'll figure this biscuit thing out! :)
