The ruins on the label are from a house built for Virginia governor Barbour, for whom Barboursville is named. The house was designed by Thomas Jefferson. It burned on Christmas Day in 1884, but the ruins are still on the grounds at the winery. It's a nice place for a picnic after spending a few hours tasting.
