Thanks to everyone who came to celebrate the 4th with us. The party consisted of grilling meat, drinking beer, and being hyper-competitive in a series of Field Day events (e.g., the stuff you did in 3rd grade, circa 1984). The party was small this year, but attendance was just right to field two great teams - team Red and team Blue. Team Blue kinda dominated team Red in most of the events, but I'm convinced that Mike rigged the games to favor his draft picks. One event that will never be seen again at the Davis house is the spin-the-bat game, where a person spins around a bat 10 times and then attempts to run straight. I am making an executive decision to axe it as I sit here and nurse my aching neck. Taking a hit face first into the ground was not a good way to start the celebrations. Besides, without all guests signing waivers, I am fairly certain there are some substantial liability issues there.
If by chance our neighbors have decided to visit this blog, our deepest apologies for being "those people" during your much more refined barbecue. We did not anticipate most of team Red deciding to go shirtless for the greater part of the day, and I hope that you all didn't hear some of the challenges being issued to you from our patio. That was really just the UGA versus Georgia Tech thing talking, so please don't take it personally. I did forbid Mike from inflating the Hairy Dawg mascot and pointing it at your house, so I was trying to reign the bulldog pride in a little bit.
For those of your wondering about the Chamblee fireworks, they sounded fantastic. We didn't actually make it down to the park because 1) it started raining and 2) we were engrossed in a game of Scene It!, the DVD movie trivia game. Again, the Blue team won best 2 out of 3. The Red team did find victory in the patriotic trivia game, however... just thought I'd throw that out there.
So with no further ado, here are the pictures. I may post more later if Angela sends me the ones that she took. Oh, and Tad - we'll get your beer money to you ASAP.
